Top to bottom L to R as much as possible here is what we have in Pile today:
Poe Woven Harlequin Platine, Custom Dyed Didymos Indio, Poe Harlequin Neige, Didymos Lisca Karabik, Pavo Veronica Etini, Pavo Chocotini, Bebe Sachi Twilight, Didymos Goldfish, Pavo Holly Etini, Tekhni Portico Twilight, Kokoskaa Royal Quill Iris, Kokoskaa Royal Quill Midnight, Pavo Lilac Fable, Handwoven, Didymos Jade Indio. Harlequins felt thin and a bit rough in hand but surprised me with their stretch and cush. Dyed Indio I didn't try because it doesn't belong to us Lisca is my wrap and an all time favorite so so soft and squishy like wrapping in a sweater. The Etinis: I think veronica is absolutely gorgeous. Chocolate and Holly just aren't my colors personally but I know this makes me crazy, they aren't my favorite. Too thick and not enough bounce, but If I spent more time with one I might change my mind. Bebe Sachi a great wrap with value beyond its retail price. Goldfish is thin and soft and floppy it feels light and airy but supportive, and glides really well. I think it's a great warm weather and beginner wrap. Tekhni Portico is my least favorite wrap. Other tekhnis are great but Im just not loving this one. Its very tight, no bounce little stretch and very grippy. Some people might love it, but it's not for me. Kokoskaa Iris and Midnight the royal quills definitely have my heart right now. Iris is all cotton and soft and textured and grippy and slippy and bouncy and cushy and everything good in a wrap. Midnight is a quad blend with wool and silk and it is soft beyong belief. it feels thick and heavy in hand but is not warm at all. Its wide and its like wrapping up in a blanket, it has stretch and cush and to top it off it is the most striking and beautiful wrap. Pavo fable was just in the door and into the washing machine so no wrapping with this yet. It belongs to our churner so I hope I'll get to see it before it goes back out the door. Handwoven I just didn't get to sadly. Jade Indio is another awesome wrap I actually really want to add this one to my stash. The color is so pretty, the weave is really tight compared to other indios I've tried. It is light and airy and strong thanks to the tri blend of cotton linen and hemp. I think this is a perfect summer wrap. I love all of our wraps and how we each bring something different to the pile. I think Ill keep you updated as it changes over time. Let me know if there is one of these wraps you want a more in depth review on and Ill see if I can borrow it for a few days
So a good mommy and babywearing friend posed the question on facebook yesterday..."If you were my keys where would you be?" They have been missing for almost a week and as far as I know she still hasn't found them. Now luckily I hadn't run this giveaway yet, so although her keys may be lost forever at least she didn't lose this amazing Pavo Sparkleberry key fob along with them. Check back here or on our facebook page at 3:00pm EST for the link to the giveaway, and if you win hopefully you never lose your keys. http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/77912d1/
A new visitor is here and his name is Taj. (It just sounds like a boy name and the wrap feels like a boy too I think) So very first thought out of the package, "looks just like marble but so much thinner." My DH even said "Didn't you just have that one?" Anyway it does look like gotham marble as its the same fibers, ecru cotton and mercerized but at 280 g/m2 to Marble's 280 they feel so different in hand. Now this is a first impression, I have not even wrapped with it yet as today was just not a wrapping day, [it happens] so I'm excited to see how it compares to marble once it's actually being worn. Stay tuned!
Again I have to credit my amazing friends and their generosity but at the same time I kind of wish D had never let me borrow this beauty because when I give it back on Friday I'm going to be ripping my heart out. I love love love marble; I've haven't put something on and instantly been this in love since I bought my senior prom dress (almost 10 years ago.) So anyway, the details. Pavo Gotham Marble size 5 100% cotton. When I picked this wrap up from D it was essentially brand new having been washed and dried and maybe tried on. It was definitely still crispy but even in that state the second I put LD up, it was love: cushy, smooshy, lovely love. In return for getting to play with marble I agreed to take the beast aka break it in. First I threw it in the wash and then I braided it a few times, wore it a few times, washed it again, ran it through the rings a few times, wore it a few times, braided it some more. Every time I wear it I love it more. Its a fairly textured wrap so its pretty grippy. I find it to be a little difficult to wrap with; it wouldn't be the best choice for a beginner trying to learn how to make passes. However at the same time when you dont get the wrap perfect it is very forgiving as the texture holds the wrap in place well. As I said before it has a lot of cush and pavo cotton is vert supportive. I carried LD in a front carry and he was weightless seriously, and there was no digging or pressure anywhere. (They really should have called it marshmallow) When it comes to carrying SG the wrap is a little on the thicker side but it's just thin enough that I can still make leg passes without throwing his tiny baby legs out of whack, and while its textured and started out a little stiff, it's plenty soft enough against his squishy skin now. I think this wrap really shines in a fwcc for both squishes and toddlers. Visually this wrap is simply gorgeous. The pattern is just barely visible by color, but due to the texture it shows like a favorite cable knit sweater (which is also how it feels.) The color is a perfect creamy natural that will compliment any skin tone. Because it is natty, I was a little worried about getting it dirty, but I've seriously been wearing it daily and have wrapped in parking lots and streets in NY in March and I haven't found a speck of dirt yet. I could just gush about how much I love this wrap all day but I have to get out and wear it a little more because it goes home Friday. Just go out and find one for yourself, I promise you wont be disappointed and if somehow you are, just send it my way; I'll be going through withdrawal. |
